Its very hard for me to write this post knowing that in a week I will be leaving Kenya. Since the last time I was here, Kenya has put troops into Somalia which in turn has created attacks within Kenya. Sources say the attacks will continue but life in Kenya goes on. Out of fear for my safety, I have decided to cut my trip short this time. I am overcome with emotion and feel disappointed in myself that I can't stay longer but the fear has turned into anxiety and it is affecting what I can do here. I pray and hope there will be no more attacks in Kenya, but at this time I feel I can do more work for Maji Mazuri at home.
I have seen all the projects and my love for Maji Mazuri has not changed nor will it ever. I've seen my kids and my son William and I know they are in amazing hands. I will do as much as I can durning the time I have left here but am still upset to cut this trip short. I love Africa. My home is within Africa. And I will continue to travel to Africa for the rest of my life. Thank you for all of your support I deeply appreciate it!

So I'm somewhere in Kenya at an internet cafe because this time around I dont have internet! Hard to get used to! Thank you guys so much for telling me how much you love reading the blog it is so nice to hear that people actually read it! It was pouring yesterday with a huge African thunderstorm and I had to land in it! Then I get picked up and the car runs out of gas so we were stuck for awhile on the side of the road! Welcome back to Kenya Julia! I have not showered in a couple days but hoping I can tonight! I have not seen my kids yet :( but will very soon! Tomorrow I am going to a rural village and can't wait. I have to adjust to life back here in Kenya, its not easy you know! But I know I will. Ill write again as soon as I can get to a computer!

No Judgment

I've been gone about 12 days now and remembering why I am so in love with Africa comes easily. South Africa is hands down one of the most amazing places I've ever been in my entire life. My roots lie within and I can feel my  blood belonging. But with beauty and a sense of belonging also comes hard times. South Africa, I believe, still has a long way to go with issues of race. Color matters in South Africa, and I can't wrap my head around it. Its instilled from a young age  generation after generation and thus I can not hold judgment. But I feel something must be done or this country will turn on itself.
I leave for Kenya on Tuesday with extreme caution, as the anniversary of Osama Bin Laden's death approaches raising the threat of terrorist attacks in Kenya. My eyes are open once again and my  heart is filled with nothing but love. I'm back.
